What did you think of last night's American Idol auditions in Portland?  I thought there were some really great singers.  I especially liked Jessica at the end (who is caring for her sick boyfriend), and I liked single mom Britney as well.   What about you, who were your favs from last night?   And remember tonight's the last night of auditions and they take place in St. Louis...hopefully we'll see more good stuff!

PAUL AND RINGO ON TV:

Ringo Starr has a new album out tonight and you can see and hear him perform a song off that album on Conan O'Brien tonight at 11pm on TBS.

Paul McCartney will be performing on the Grammy Awards on February 12th.  Look for him to do a song from his new album, Kisses on the Bottom.  No word if he'll perform alone or if he'll be joined by someone.  The Grammys are notorious for pairing different singers and musicians...we'll have to see how it goes!

BIG GAME HOLIDAY?

Okay, we all know that Super Sunday has become one of the biggest "holidays" of the year, right up there with Fourth of July and Thanksgiving, in terms of how EVERYONE gets together with others to watch the game and eat lots of food!   Because the game is always on late and after all is said and done, doesn't really end until about 10:30, with a BIG TV show following the game, do you think we should get the following Monday off, like we would for other family holidays, or should we just deal with the exhaustion and get through the day?   I don't think we need a day off, but it would be nice if we could go in a couple of hours later on that following Monday...what do you think?  Join the discussion at www.facebook.com/98.3wtry

There was a BIG shakeup at The X-Factor yesterday as Simon Cowell pulled out his hatchet and fired just about everyone.  First we heard that host Steve Jones wasn't coming back, then came word that Nicole Sherzinger was gone as a judge.  And then shockingly, we found out that Paula Abdul, Simon's buddy and former American Idol co-judge, was also let go.   WOW!   Apparently Simon wasn't happy with the ratings last season and hopes to kick it up a notch.  We'll have to wait to find out who's going to be hosting and judging next season...any ideas?

ELI OR TOM?

FERRIS IS BACK!

Some commercials from Sunday's game are already leaking out for us to see ahead of time.  One of the most anticipated ones is the new Honda ad featuring none other than 80's hero, Ferris Bueller (as played by Matthew Broderick).  It's a two and a half minute ad, but I think well worth it for those of us who spend time watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  Watch it and let me know what you think.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhkDdayA4iA 

Two weeks ago, PRESIDENT OBAMA delighted the WHOLE WORLD by singing the first line of AL GREEN'S "Let's Stay Together".  Now, he's been invited to sing on "American Idol".  Producer Nigel Lythgoe Tweeted, quote, "@BarackObama:  We loved your vocal performance so much we'd love to invite you on to 'American Idol' this season for a duet with Al Green."  There's been no response from the President.  (--Of course, I can't imagine this EVER happening.  The President . . . on "American Idol" . . . singing a duet with Al Green.  But Obama is a "cool" President, right?  So who knows.)

What did you think of last night's Idol auditions in Pittsburgh?  I really liked Hallie Day who sang I Will Survive and I liked Samantha despite her crazy "planking" sister Pat.   The big news in the ratings was that Idol had it's biggest drop off for a season premiere since it began 11 years ago.  Still, even with that drop off, it will still most likely top the ratings this week, with the exception of football.  Did you watch last night?

It's Jaime...just letting you know that I'll be heading out on vacation this coming week (January 23rd through the 27th).  I'm going south to Washington DC and Myrtle Beach to visit my nieces and nephews, but will return on Monday, January 30th.  There will be no contests while I'm gone, but I Movie Monday will return on the 30th, and so will your chance to win a fantastic prize.   There will also be no Classback Flashbacks but they return on the 30th as well!  Have a GREAT week and enjoy the great music, and I'll see you in the a week!
